How to join your first open play
Open play is how most people in Metro Manila start: you show up, get rotated into games and meet players at your level. Here’s how it works, on Sponty and at venues that run their own.
Know what open play is
At open play, a host or venue books courts for a few hours and players pay a fee to join. Players rotate in and out of doubles games, so you play with and against different people all session.
Pick a session at your level
- Check the level range, like DUPR 3.0–3.5. New players should look for all-level sessions or ones that welcome unrated (NR) players.
- Check the time, the venue and the fee per player.
- On Sponty, each session shows the spots left and how well your level fits.
Not sure what your level is? Read DUPR ratings, explained.
Get your spot
On Sponty: sign in and tap Request to join. The host reviews every player and approves or declines. If the session is full, join the waitlist and we’ll tell you if a spot opens.
At venues that run their own open play: sign up where the venue takes names. Each venue page on Sponty says where. These are the most common:
- Reclub16 venues
- Venue website5 venues
- Sparrk3 venues
- Sports3602 venues
Show up ready
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to check in and warm up. On Sponty, open your match pass to check in.
- Bring a paddle, or ask the venue if you can rent one.
- Wear court shoes and bring water and a towel.
- Ask how the queue works. Many groups use a paddle rack or a list to decide who plays next.
After your games
Tap paddles, thank your partners and the host. If your host records scores on Sponty, confirm your results so they count. Some hosts also send scores to DUPR.
Then read open play etiquette so you’re invited back.
How we checked
We checked each venue’s own website, social page or booking app on Nov 5, 2026, and for a few venues a public court directory. Every venue page lists its sources. We only show a rate the venue publishes itself, so 18 venues show “Rates on request”. Rates change, so confirm with the venue before you book. Seen a newer price? Tell us.
FAQ
Do I need to be good to join open play?
No. Pick a session that matches your level, or one for all levels. Hosts set the range so games stay close.

Cancel your request as early as you can, so someone on the waitlist can take your spot.
How much does open play cost?
₱150–₱450 per player at the 21 venues that list a fee. Sponty sessions show the fee on each session page.
Do I pay through Sponty?
No. Sponty doesn’t take payments. Pay the host or venue as the session page says.
